The Appeal
Such was the post-war drive to export that just 1,500 of the 13,650 original Mk1 BT7 Healeys were UK market RHD cars like this one. It’s likely one of the last Mk1s and sports an aesthetic that will surely appeal to lovers of the car’s illustrious rally heritage.
A useful BMIHT certificate confirms that the current Colorado Red over black leather colour scheme is factory correct. It is in good order thanks to an older repaint and more recent refresh, one that took in the factory hard top too. We’re told that the rally look was prepared for a Brexit-era film that never went ahead. It works well, setting the car apart from the standard models.
Rare 'Liege Rome Liege' fitted badges to the bonnet and boot lid pay homage to the sister of Sir Stirling Moss; Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom who made history driving an Abingdon BMC Works Austin-Healey 3000 to an outright victory of the gruelling Liege Rome Liege Rally in 1960 - the first time an all-female crew had won an international championship rally. Vehicle sold with the Pat Moss autobiography talking about the historic win.

The vendor tells us that the first keeper kept it until 2005. The current one acquired it in 2011 and has used it regularly but sparingly since. It has been regularly serviced, most recently in February 2026, and is usefully fitted with sensible upgrades like an alternator and modern starter. A recent compression test by specialist Gittings Motors reveals the big straight six is in rude health.
It is an indication of the seller’s approach that the car comes with the transparency of a current voluntary MOT. It is valid to February 2027 with no advisories. A rally grille and side exhaust add character to a car that presents as an honest, usable Big Healey with a well-documented past.
The vendor says:
“Very willing. Deeper voice with side exhaust. Likes to get into overdrive. Responsive. Handles well. Eye-catcher. Enjoys going topless.”
