The Appeal
Continuing the evolution of Triumph’s TR series, the TR4 is a great example of a classic British sportscar. Its 2,138cc engine produces 100bhp and propels the car to an official top speed of 110mph, which was very impressive in 1962, and still allows for plenty of fun today.
This particular example has been extensively restored and comes with a huge file of invoices for parts and servicing, including bodywork, trim and mechanical refurbishment.
It is now presented in great condition inside and out , ready to be driven and enjoyed, with its bright red paintwork ensuring that it will receive admiring glances wherever it goes.

The Interior

The huge amount of work which went into this TR4’s restoration is easy to see when you step inside the car. It looks as though no stone was left unturned when it came to the work carried out. The seats have been re-covered in black vinyl and look comfortable and supportive, with inertia-reel seatbelts having also been fitted.
The driver is presented with a large, thin-rimmed steering wheel with chrome spokes, in front of a bright red dashboard. This sports a full set of instruments and switches, air vents and a lockable glovebox. The vinyl dashboard top looks to be in very good condition, and the lower edge is padded for safety. A short gear lever falls easily to hand and the handbrake juts out of the floor at a jaunty angle.
Weather protection is provided by a new vinyl soft top roof and wind-up windows. And to the rear, the boot provides plenty of storage space for luggage, with its angular lid able to accommodate reasonably sized suitcases.

The vendor informs us that this Triumph is in pristine condition throughout and the car’s lines make it a fantastic example of the archetypal ‘60s sports car.
Bright red paint suits this TR4 perfectly and certainly helps it get noticed. The finish looks very good and there are only a few imperfections that we could see. It has a deep shine and glossy finish.
Chrome bumpers and trim finish the car off very well, and there appears to be only a little pitting to some of the other chrome pieces. The central fuel filler cap is a nice feature which allows you the pick of the pumps at the petrol station.
The car runs on steel wheels, which look to be in very good condition, finished in silver paint, and wearing chrome hubcaps with Triumph badges at their centres. The tyres are said to be new.

The four-cylinder engine powering this TR4 looks to be in very presentable condition, and sits in a gleaming, repainted engine bay. Everything looks very clean and tidy and many new parts have clearly been fitted, including a new wiring loom.
The vendor informs us that the car starts and drives very well with no issues to report, with the carburettors having been rebuilt. Servicing, including changing the oil, filters and spark plugs, has been carried out recently.
Underneath, the running gear all looks to be in good order, and the suspension has been rebuilt, with new bolts and bushes present and chassis strengtheners have been included. And a new exhaust completes the car nicely.
