The Appeal
Popular as the R107 was with European buyers, it was a car designed and built for American interstates, which is why US buyers got perhaps the best version - the big 5.6L 230hp V8 560SL. These cars are so good that perhaps it isn’t surprising that European buyers want them back to enjoy them too.
This 1987 Arctic White 560SL is in good condition. It is an early example of the desirable galvanised cars with the lightly facelifted aesthetics. The white paintwork is complemented by a two-tone Palomino leather cabin and matching tan folding roof. There is also hard top that matches the paintwork.
The car appears to have been well maintained throughout its life. We’ve summarised recent work below. Over the course of 2024, the timing chain, tensioner, and guides were renewed, the intake and exhaust valves were replaced, the transmission was serviced, the fuel tank was drained and cleaned, and a host of ancillary items were attended to. The car passed a California emissions inspection in February 2024, and the last service was carried out in November 2024 at 181,499 miles.
