The Appeal

Jaguar should have launched an XJ-S Convertible much earlier. It took an agonising thirteen years of production before it finally happened, but the result was well worth the wait.  Few cars of this period offer such effortless long-distance cruising ability, and the Convertible variant adds a welcome dose of theatre to the experience.
This 1989 example has a traceable history stretching back to its first owner in Switzerland, where it was purchased in 2004 by the previous keeper before eventually making its way to Barcelona and then to France in 2020. It is reported to be entirely unmodified and comes with an impressive documentation file including the original Swiss purchase records, a service book covering maintenance up to 2004, and invoices thereafter.

The car has been repainted in an attractive blue and the paintwork presents well, though prospective buyers should note that a number of cosmetic, electrical and mechanical items would benefit from attention, as outlined in The Detail below. This is a car that rewards an enthusiast willing to invest in bringing it up to its full potential, underpinned by a strong V12 engine and solid provenance.
