The Appeal
The 928 was an opportunity spotted. Most 70s long-distance GTs originated in Maranello or Sant’Agat and required a mechanic in the passenger seat in case of breakdown. Not so the 928, which was as quick and capable as any Ferrari or Lambo, but with the added ingredient of bulletproof mechanicals of the sort only Porsche seems able to deliver in the sports car sector.
The S4 added a bigger 5L version of the powerful V8, plus improvements to the cosmetics and comfort. This well kept 1988 car comes to market after what the vendor tells us was an €8,000 restoration covering mechanicals and bodywork. The vendor also advises that the history file shows further €6,000 of maintenance. Added reassurance is provided by a technical inspection valid to October 2027.
Few GTs are as capable and as robust as a good 928. The S4 is arguably the most usable version and this well presented example has the added appeal of all that recent work.
