Description
Offered for reluctant sale, this unique Mini, purchased in 1993 by myself as a 998cc Mini Cooper, rebuilt into a Mk3 shell. This Mini has been a 10 year build to produce the 'Ultimate A Series Mini'.
The specification is without equal - Bill Richards built 1380cc engine, highly modified, with Arrow Rods, roller rockers, forged pistons, allied to a superb Arden 8 Port cylinder head - very rare indeed. The fuelling is taken of with twin Jenvey throttle bodies, with one Picco injector per cylinder controlled by the latest Emerald K3 ECU. The transmission, highly polished casing houses a full straight cut gear set, roller drop gears, Quaife limited slip differential and steel driveshafts, putting its power down through 10" M. B alloy split rim wheels - an outstanding power plant that delivers seamless power, 121 bhp being available at the wheels from 6500 rpm, with huge drive and torque on offer over 3500 rpm - the result of many hours on the Emerald dyno by Dave Walker himself.
This Mini was featured in the 'Ultimate Mini Mayhem DVD' - where it was pitted against non A series Minis, the summary at the end of the day was " the 8 Port A series has blown away all of the hybrid Minis".
Also summed as being " perfect" - if you want the real deal road / track Mini - this is it.
Do you think you need a non A series power plant - maybe think again?
The suspension, featuring coil over all road, fully adjustable geometry at each corner, lightweight KAD radius arms, alloy beam axle, alloy 4 pot brakes, KAD rear roll bar - this car has it all. Carbon fibre front end and bonnet, carbon fibre boot floor and boot lid, totally unique side exit exhaust, and a whole host of unique features.
The result - a superb fast road Mini - the culmination of 10 year build to bring a Mini addicts list of goodies together has resulted in a car that is greater than the sum of its parts - a car of this ilk very rarely comes to the market. If that isn't enough, this car has won Concourse competitions at the highest level, its first outing, winning the highly coveted Modified Car of the show at the London to Brighton Run in 2005, and then being voted as the Car of the show, with many more wins at the premier shows the following years.
