Description
Fantastic opportunity to own and restore a real classic. I have "inherited" this car through my company and it has been dry stored for 14 years in a bodyshop that I know of.
I have the log book in my name and has had 6 former keepers.
Being aluminium and post war, there is no body rot and the chassis looks very sound. The door posts, which I believe to be ash, don't appear to be rotten and the passenger side door which is still hung doesn't have too much movement. It also closes well and the shut lines are good. the driver's door and card is in the boot.
The boot where the dickie seats are, opens well and stays up. The rear passenger screen is in good condition.
The hood will need some serious repair or replacement as will the frame, although it all appears to be present!
The windscreen is also in good order.
To bring the car to concourse condition, it will require a full restoration but generally the car seems to be complete. That is to say, apart from the missing bonnet, grill, carb and inlet manifold. Fairly seriuos bits! I have not turned the engine over on the starter, but have rocked it in gear and the engine turns over freely and has clean oil in. Oh, the horn works. No ignition keys.
The previous owner has done a lot of work on the car and it wouldn't take a huge effort to get it running. The carb and bonnet parts are available with a bit of digging.
I am half tempted to take the resto on myself but I already havean MGB works replica and struggle for space. I may be tempted to swap the car..... depanding on the swap!
