The Appeal
The 1933 Chrysler Imperial Sedan Convertible sat at the top of the pre-war Chrysler range. Powered by a 4.9-litre straight-eight engine and dressed in an elegant convertible sedan body, the Imperial embodied American automotive luxury. Produced in very limited numbers, it was already an exclusive model in its day.
This example has belonged to the same family since 1946. About ten years ago, the car was completely dismantled and then rebuilt, with a fresh paint job applied in six coats. The seller reckons the bodywork and paint are "like new", whilst the interior, trimmed in beige leather, presents in very good condition, with only light signs of wear.
Mechanically, the seller also describes it as being in very good order. The engine was opened approximately 30 years ago to replace three valves and the cylinder head gasket.
Presented as the only running example currently in France, this Imperial represents a rare opportunity to acquire a pre-war American luxury cruiser, benefiting from exceptional family history and a complete restoration. Prospective buyers should note, however, that the tyres are worn and will need replacing.image.png1.7 MB
