The Appeal
The IZH 350 is a fascinating artefact of post-war motorcycle history. Produced at the Izhevsk factory in the Soviet Union on machinery seized from DKW's German plants after the Second World War, it is essentially a continuation of the DKW NZ350-1 built under a new Soviet identity. Examples featuring the early trapezoid fork and rigid rear, with no rear shocks, are considered particularly rare.
This specific machine, built in the first half of 1949, is a genuine barn find. It was discovered in a private bar where it had been stored since the 1990s and has since been displayed at various fairs. The two-tone brown finish is stated to be the original factory colour, and the original badge is still fitted. No mechanical work has been carried out and no attempt has been made to start the engine, though it reportedly does turn over and has compression.
