The Appeal
The Benelli Sprintmaster is a charming product of the celebrated Italian manufacturer's expertise in lightweight two-wheelers. With its 49cc two-stroke engine and two-speed manual gearbox, it epitomises the simplicity and character of 1960s moped design, purposeful, elegant, and unmistakably Italian.
This particular example has a remarkable provenance. Purchased new in 1963 by the seller's father, it was ridden for two years before he joined the army, after which it was tucked away in a shed for approximately 50 years. As a birthday present for the father, the bike was restored with careful attention to the original specification. Sadly, the father passed away around three years ago, and the sale now fulfils his last wish for another Benelli enthusiast to enjoy the machine. An extensive photographic archive documenting the restoration before, during, and after is included, along with Dutch registration papers, historical documentation, and an original Dutch manual.
