Extensive mechanical recommissioning by Tuthill Porsche specialists in 2024
Comprehensive list of parts and work undertaken available
The Appeal
Only 44 Sportmatic 911s were imported to the UK in 1968. Clutchless gear changes were made possible using a torque converter and vacuum system, offering all the engagement of a manual transmission without the need to master the clutch pedal. Surprisingly, Porsche didn't make more of them. Gearbox aside, this is a short-wheelbase 2.0-litre 911T - one of the most desirable 911s there is. Don't miss your chance to add an ultra-rare variant of it to your collection.
Purchased via Car & Classic in June 2023, the current owner was drawn to the car's originality and has since invested in a thorough mechanical recommissioning carried out by Porsche specialists in 2024. The scope of work covered the braking system, suspension, fuel system, and ignition, with a full list of parts available. The bodywork is honest; the vendor notes it presents acceptably from a distance but would benefit from closer attention, as visible in the photographs. This is a car that has been mechanically sorted for enjoyment rather than prepared for concours, and the vendor describes it as a charming, original, useable car.image.png1.38 MB
