Replica of a legendary competition motorcycle of which only around 50 originals were produced
Reported to be fitted with an original Fontana magnesium 250 brake
Three-cylinder two-stroke engine with dry clutch and racing frame
The Appeal
The Kawasaki 500 H1R is one of the most significant competition two-strokes of its era. Produced between 1969 and 1971, the original H1R made its racing debut at the 1970 Daytona 200 Miles, where it recorded the fastest lap at approximately 257 km/h. In 1971, it became the first two-stroke machine to reach the finish in the 500cc class of the World Championship at the Spanish Grand Prix. With only around 50 examples built, originals are vanishingly scarce, and the H1R's brief but influential competition career helped shape the professional racing teams that followed.
This example is a replica, built by the Cirri Brothers - legendary Italian racing team and specialists who specialise in bringing these old racing legacies back to life. Their work has resulted in a faithfully executed recreation, using the same three-cylinder two-stroke engine platform as the original road-going H1 from which the H1R was derived.
It's no doubt an exciting prospect for any enthusiast, and we think this handsome replica will get plenty of interest at auction. image.png4.22 MB
