The Appeal
While most were destined for Autobahn cruising, it's a little-known fact that a 450 SLC was once a star of the rally stage. Affectionately nicknamed the "Panzer" due to its incredible toughness, this full-sized luxury coupe became the first car powered by a V8 engine and equipped with an automatic transmission to win a World Rally Championship (WRC) event, driven by the likes of Björn Waldegård and Hannu Mikkola.
Produced between 1973 and 1980, the C107 SLC has steadily gained recognition as a stylish and capable classic, offering a more usable alternative to its considerably more common open-topped stablemate.
The vendor describes this 1979 example as being in really good condition for its age. On closer inspection, there are some signs of age, but this is a smart, original car with paperwork, including new and early service records, and a collection of old MOTs said to corroborate the recorded mileage. image.png1.55 MB
