The Appeal
We have Jaguar boss Sir John Egan to thank for the Series III XJ. Bringing in Pininfarina to cleverly redesign it and ramping up quality at Browns Lane extended the car’s life and means these much-improved cars survive in good numbers. Well built and reliable, these cars make great touring companions.
This smart 1983 XJ6 4.2L, in rare black over beige leather, has to be one of the nicest we’ve seen in a long while. Its four keepers have amassed just 28,000 miles in its 43 years, a figure supported by MOT and service records. That sparing use means it is in extremely good condition, checking out well in the usual XJ areas such as arches, sills, interior woodwork and underside.
The service book shows regular servicing by main dealers and classic car specialists. The vendor tells us that since buying the car in 2021 he has always garaged it and only ever used it in the dry. Recent work has included attention to the fuel system and front springs. A very tidy and eminently ‘show-able’ classic Jaguar.
The vendor comments:
“Very low-mileage example in very good condition.”
