When the prosaically-named Count Roland De La Poype saw the Mini Moke, this industrialist and World War II fighter ace knew that he could do better. The result was the impressive 2CV-based Mehari, a utilitarian car with hardwearing ABS body that is as at home on the farm as on the beach.
This 1984 Mehari spent its life in Portugal before arriving in the UK in 2017 with the current keeper. It is a really tidy and nicely presented example in cream with black vinyl interior. We’re told that it has been well maintained since arriving, including a service and electrical work in 2024. The current voluntary MOT runs to May 2027.
Intriguing and entertaining in equal measure, this is a very smart example of one of classic motoring’s most unusual cars.
