The Appeal

Had designer Toshio Yamashita not ignored Nissan’s directives we’d never have got one of Japan’s most stylish sports cars. The firm wanted a conventional ZX update; what they got was a sleek supercar infused with the style and detail of Italy’s best.
Three years into production, Nissan decided it wanted a slice of America’s ‘boulevard cruiser’ market. Spurred by aftermarket conversions of the coupe, the firm commissioned the American Sunroof Corporation to build the 300ZX convertible. The cars were built in Japan, converted in America, and, in this case, returned to Japan for sale. It is one of just 542 RHD JDM cars built, of which only 80 were assembled in 1993. It arrived in the UK in 1999 and was with the current keeper in 2018. Technically, this car is a Fairlady Z, but the DVLA registers it as a 300ZX.
Finished in classic white with a comfortable black leather interior, it is a tidy example that remains factory standard. The large history file shows regular servicing plus invoices for a gearbox overhaul in 2010 and a new roof in 2020. The current MOT runs to June 2027 with no advisories.
Extremely rare and imbued with Nissan’s tough reliability, this is a great chance to bag an unusual JDM classic.
