The Appeal
A car this practical has no business being so fast. Maybe that's why we love performance estates; they're an oxymoron on wheels. Volvo arguably kickstarted the genre with the 850 T5R of the 1990s, later followed up with the V70R.
This P2-generation factory BSR-Stage 2 example raises the stakes further still, producing approximately 340bhp from its 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine, a seriously rapid machine wrapped in one of the most unassuming bodies on the road.
Imported from Japan in 2022 and now registered on UK plates, this V70R benefits from the kind of preservation that Japanese-market cars are renowned for. The vendor states it is exceedingly solid and describes it as one of the tidiest V70Rs available, with only the odd age-related mark to note. It has been garage dry stored by both the previous keeper and the current owner, and has covered 136,548 km.
The car retains its factory BSR specification, including the tuning computer, upgraded air filter and sport cat-back exhaust. The interior is finished in authentic Japanese-market trim, complete with km/h dials, Japanese SatNav and a racing camber screen. With Volvo service history since import and an MOT valid until June 2027, this hot V70 has everything going for it.image.png1.51 MB
