Description
J3772 was the last of the 22 J3's made by M. G. and supplied to established racing drivers. It was acquired by The Honorable Miss E. V. Watson of Paignton, Devon on 4 September 1933.
She campaigned it vigorously for three season, mainly in club and National Trials.
For instance in 1934 she won two Ladies Cups, two First Class awards and with only one retirement in nine events entered.
OD6791 was sold to an H. T. Roberts in 1937 who owned the car until 1959, including a spell in America. He is believed to have raced it in the 1950'ies.
This J3 may well be the most complete and original of the 15 surviving cars, only a very few of which remain in this country. It was professionally rebuilt in the early gearbox, body and seats. The only non-original part is the supercharger which was changed from Powerplus to Arnott in 1936. The engine and gearbox was rebuilt by Mike Allison, an M. G. racing specialist, based on a crankshaft milled out of a solid billet. The interior, weather equipment and tonneau are up to the same high standard.
The car is finished in the original two tone colour scheme.
