1975 MGB GT Jubilee Edition - Project Car

PROJECT - Floors need final welding in / New rear Spring Hangars need to be welded in correctly - Paint needs a good rub down and polish - General overall vehicle check - The car starts and runs just fine and goes through the gears correctly - making this a very worthwhile project

A rare and distinctive 1975 MGB GT Jubilee Edition, presented in its traditional green-and-gold colour scheme with matching gold-and-black alloy wheels.

The Jubilee Edition was introduced in 1975 to commemorate 50 years of MG. Just 750 production examples were specially prepared for the UK market, although some records quote 751 when the development car is included. Jubilee models were distinguished by their deep green paintwork, gold side stripes, special anniversary badging, tinted glass and distinctive V8-style alloy wheels finished in gold and black. This makes it one of the more recognisable and collectable factory editions of the MGB GT. MG Owners’ Club and MG Car Club.

This example has remained with the same owner since 2017 and has undergone a considerable programme of restoration and corrective work during that ownership. Important structural and mechanical improvements.

Work required: include replacement floor pans, new rear spring hangers, new rear springs, which need to be welded in correctly.

The car also has new front springs and a replacement steering rack.

The fuel system has also received extensive attention, including a new fuel tank, sender unit, fuel lines and associated fuel-system components. A battery cut-off switch has been fitted, and the car is accompanied by a good service history.

There is a small rust bubble on the drivers door on the very lower edge and please note that the paint is acceptable but it is not perfect.

Powered by the familiar 1. 8-litre B-Series twin-carburettor engine, the MGB GT combines traditional British sports-car character with the practicality of its 2+2 coupé body and rear hatch. This example is equipped with a manual gearbox and overdrive.

The green paintwork is not perfect and shows some age-related imperfections, but it remains clean, tidy and perfectly acceptable for a usable classic. The gold Jubilee stripes and matching wheels give the car a particularly distinctive appearance. The body panels present well, with the doors and adjoining panels fitting neatly and lining up correctly.

Inside, the cabin is finished in black with black seating, matching door cards and black carpets. It is clean, tidy and presentable throughout, while retaining the straightforward period appearance associated with the MGB. A fitted sunroof adds welcome light and ventilation to the two-door coupé cabin.

This is not being presented as a concours example, but as an attractive, usable and increasingly collectable limited-edition MGB GT. With long-term ownership, and the sought-after Jubilee colour scheme, it offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiast wanting something a little more unusual than a standard MGB GT.
