Powered by the most powerful V8 engine in Maranello's history, the Ferrari 488 Pista takes the technological transfer from competition to an unprecedented level.
The Ferrari 488 Pista brings the invaluable experience gained by the 488 Challenge and 488 GTE models on racing circuits around the world directly to the road, a heritage of sporting excellence proudly recalled by its very name.
The Pista delivers 720 horsepower at 8, 000 rpm, thus displaying the best specific power in its class with 185 hp/ litre. Its maximum torque increases across the entire rev range to reach 770 Nm, a gain of 10 Nm over the 488 GTB.
The 50 horsepower increase from the 488 GTB engine represents the largest power gain ever recorded compared to the standard model for a Ferrari special series, surpassing its predecessor, the 458 Speciale, by 115 horsepower. Its V8 thus establishes itself as a true benchmark, both in the engine category and in the automotive world as a whole.
The intake, exhaust, crankshaft and connecting rods have been redesigned, as have the turbochargers, now equipped with rev sensors taken from the 488 Challenge racing version to further reduce response time. Furthermore, the traction control, stability control, slip control and differential have been recalibrated.
And what of its wild beauty…
A faithful heir to competition, the 488 GTE strongly influenced the design of the 488 Pista, which borrows from the racing car its front and rear aerodynamic appendages. The redesigned bumper, the perforated front bonnet to optimise airflow, as well as the diffuser and rear spoiler — now visually separated from the wings — testify to this direct lineage.
The front bonnet, bumpers and rear wing make extensive use of carbon fibre. Inside, the weight-saving drive has resulted in the removal of many comfort and soundproofing elements. In its most stripped-down configuration, the 488 Pista displays a dry weight of 1, 280 kg, a weight loss of 90 kg compared to the GTB, allowing it to smash the 0 to 100 km/ h in just 2. 85 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/ h.
Ferrari 360 Stradale, 430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale… The special series of Ferrari V8 coupés have always heightened the performance and emotion of their reference models. Yet the Pista pushes the boundaries even further by elevating the 488, combining impressive raw power with enhanced driving accessibility.
