The Appeal
The Unic marque, founded in 1905 in Puteaux, France, earned a strong reputation for its dependable commercial vehicles and taxicabs during the early twentieth century. Surviving examples from this period are very scarce indeed, making this 1921 L1 a very rare find.
Our example has been in the same family since the 1980s, purchased by the seller's father and subsequently inherited approximately 10 years ago. During his ownership, the seller's father carried out a renovation that included the soft top and seat, and the vehicle has reportedly always been driven gently. Finished in blue with a black interior, the bodywork presents well with few defects, while the brass and chrome fittings, though dulled with age, lend authentic period character.
Confirmed as running, this centenarian Unic would be a wonderful addition to any collection.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
