The Appeal

It's rather remarkable to look back at the 30s and remember that the mass-produced automobile was still such a recent invention. There are elements of the Model 40 that seem distinctly modern and unusual compared to its direct predecessors, and compared to the model A, which was only 7 years earlier, it looked outright space age.

Carrying one of Ford's earliest iterations of a V8 powerplant, the smooth motion and impressive performance of the new 40 was an immediate hit - and all of that grunt was guaranteed to pick up the attention of hot-rodders, who were rapidly becoming a fixture of life on the American road.

This particular example has been very nicely restored, and carries a Windsor V8 with a C6 automatic transmission. The result is a traditional-looking vehicle with impressive levels of performance. In that sense, it's a perfect marriage between one of Ford's foundational vehicles and the later, louder, brasher world of the Mustang.

With only 800 miles driven since its restoration in 2020, this car presents a great opportunity for any classic car enthusiast.

  • The car features new classic wheels with new Coocker white walls that complement the vehicle well
  • The entire wiring harness and fuse box are new
  • Internally, the car has been highly modernised
  • Electronic instruments have been fitted, alongside a Grant steering wheel and modern stickshift
  • Seats are nicely presented with curvy bolsters and no rips or tears 
  • Carpets and headlining in good order
  • Door cards are nicely presented

  • Powered by a newly built Ford 351cu in 5.7L Windsor V8 engine
  • Fitted with a C6 automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter
  • The car includes a custom front axle with independent suspension, disc brakes, and power steering
  • The entire suspension is new and fitted with coilovers
  • The car has a new double exhaust with Flowmasters, producing a strong sound
