The Appeal

The Second World War was fought on such a scale that vast quantities of troops, supplies and equipment had to be transported all over the world. That makes trucks as important, if not more so than tanks and aircraft. These vehicles needed to operate in inhospitable conditions, crossing challenging terrain for months on end with limited maintenance.
Britain’s numerous commercial manufacturers produced a number of models to help the war effort and one of the most effective trucks of the conflict was the Austin K3. Equipped with powerful six-cylinder overhead cam engines, four-speed gearboxes and hydraulic brakes, the K3 proved immensely capable and boasted an impressive carrying capacity.
Wartime examples are especially sought after among military collectors and we’re delighted to present this 1940 Austin K3 tipper. It was restored around six years ago and remains commendably original to its original specifications. Having lost its indoor storage, the truck has been parked outside in recent months so would benefit from some cosmetic attention although we’re assured that there’s no notable corrosion to report.

Offered in running, driving order, this piece of fascinating World War Two history could be yours. It’s the 80th anniversary of Normandy landing on 6th June 2024 and this would be a welcome addition to the commemoration proceedings.
