As the Second World War met its eagerly-anticipated end, American servicemen began going back home - and alongside Cadbury chocolate and strange transatlantic accents, many of them brought cars back to the USA. A new love affair with European sports cars had begun, and the centre of it all was MG and their collection of little roadsters.
MG took notice, but with the limited resources available, their first post-war car was very much of pre-war lineage. The MG TC looked old fashioned when it rolled out of the gate - but that suited the US fine. It was 'quaint' and charming, with a distinctive upright grille, flowing wings and very nimble road manners.
This particular 1948 example has undergone a meticulous ground-up restoration, including a new body tub, chassis, hood and upholstery, with the current owner completing work begun by the previous custodian. Having covered just 500 miles since the comprehensive rebuild, this TC is a fabulous prospect, and a very handsome classic.
