The Appeal
In the immediate post-war years, industrial giant Allgaier commissioned Porsche to design an innovative and affordable 'Volkstraktor.' The result was the A17, powered by Porsche's own two-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine. Available in both Porsche-branded AP17 and Allgaier-badged A17 forms, these tractors are now highly sought after by collectors drawn to their ingenious Porsche engineering.
This 1951 example is an Allgaier-badged A17, finished in the firm's signature bright green as associated with its early tractor models. It was the subject of a restoration and mechanical overhaul in 2022, and it carries German papers with a current TÜV valid until May 2027. With all the hard work already done, this is a fine opportunity to acquire a rare and collectable piece of Porsche-designed agricultural history.
