The Appeal
The post-war period demanded versatility. The demand for luxury cars was shrinking, and Armstrong Siddeley's latest focused, instead, on other body styles. The Whitley was a hardy car with superb build quality, and became particularly popular in Australia as a pick-up truck. 122 of the grand total of 4,321 built were handsome, long-bodied limousines like these.
Stately, refined and with handsome luxury cabins, they were amongst the finest out there, and only three - that's right, three - are known to survive. As a result, this incredibly rare car is expected to pick up plenty of attention at auction.
This vanishingly scarce Whitley lino has been preserved and restored, having undergone a comprehensive ground-up restoration approximately a decade ago, with photographic documentation to verify the work. Its previous life as a wedding car speaks to its elegant presence - who wouldn't want to have this beautiful car carry them into their big day?
