The Appeal
The Jaguar Mark V was a car of many firsts. With its independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes, Jaguar made no secret of their innovations with the vehicle upon hitting the market - and it did so with a global appeal, being designed specifically with global export in mind.
This particular model is a left-hand drive, originally supplied to the USA, and now located in Holland. Carrying the larger, desirable 3.5 litre pushrod engine - the last push-rod that Jaguar built - this car's special persona is further exemplified by a distinguished patina.
This car has been carefully maintained and upgraded by its current registered keeper. Recent works include a rebuild of the brakes, an upgrade to electronic ignition, and the installation of twin K & N Air filters. The addition of adjustable power steering has improved this classic car's handling in modern traffic conditions, too. Make no mistake, this car is an eminently usable classic that should prove a pleasure to drive.
History and Paperwork
Manufactured in 1951
Originally supplied to the USA
Based in New Jersey for much of its early life
Imported to Holland in 2000, according to the Dutch RDW
Recently changed ownership following an estate sale
The car is still Dutch registered, no European taxes to be paid

Originally based in New Jersey, this Rolls Royce has been cosseted throughout its life - that much is very clear. Recently touching British soil, and still carrying its Dutch registration, this car has been very nicely kept with papers describing much of its history, including some hard-to-find early documentation.
The Condition
The exterior features older black paint
Paintwork is largely in good order with only light signs of wear
The hood is covered by a hood bag when down, easy to erect and lower
The rear window is a zip in affair in glass & allows for good ventilation when running with the roof up
Chromework still casts a bright contrast and is all present and correct
Original branding is all present and correct
Steel disc wheels with whitewall tyres
Distinguished and stylish, the Mark V's bodywork fused classic automotive design with a distinguished deco theme. With those distinctive spats on the rear wheels, the sweeping fenders and smooth arches, it's a truly beautiful design. This car acts as a superb ambassador of those aesthetics, with no signs of corrosion and only light wear to its paintwork, which we understand has been adorning the car for some time.
Red leather interior with burr walnut accents
Door cards are also dark red and are in fine order
Seats are in very good order with no rips or tears
Walnut carries a matte finish and a fabulous vintage patina
All instruments in good, clean order
We've no reports of any technical issues
A partial set of original tools can be found in the fold open boot lid
Interally, this Mark V is in fine fettle. We can't spot any rips or tears, and the woodwork carries a very evocative patina. All instruments are legible and easy to read, while the carpets and door cards seem to be very nicely kept. Ultimately, it's a striking, bright and very nostalgic place to be for both driver and passenger.
The Mechanics
Larger 3.5 litre straight-six pushrod OHV engine
4-speed manual transmission with Synchromesh on all four speeds
Recent works include a rebuild of the brakes
Upgrade to electronic ignition
Installation of twin K & N Air filters
Adjustable power steering for improved handling in modern traffic conditions
The car starts readily and performs impressively in modern traffic
Thoughtfully upgraded, this Mark V has been brought up with the modern road network in mind. We're informed that thanks to the addition of power steering and electronic ignition, the car is more reliable and capable than ever - and should be an eminently drivable classic.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Automatically outbid immediately
When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
