The Appeal
The Dodge Fargo occupies a fascinating niche in North American automotive history: produced exclusively for the Canadian market as a Dodge-badged counterpart to the American-market Fargo trucks, these vehicles were never officially sold in Europe, making any example found on this side of the Atlantic a genuinely rare and conversation-starting find. This 1952 example has made the journey from Quebec to France, bringing with it a colourful backstory and the results of a thorough restoration.
The history of this particular truck is as characterful as the vehicle itself. Prior to its arrival in France, it spent time at a chalet in Harrington, approximately 1.5 hours from Montreal, in the care of a Frenchman who had been living in Canada for 25 years and used it as a secondary residence vehicle. He had acquired it in 2014 from the manager of a Canadian petrol station, who had put it to work. Since arriving in France in 2023, the Fargo has been in the hands of a single registered keeper and has been regularly maintained.
The restoration carried out in 2023 was comprehensive: a full bodywork restoration was completed by panel beaters and metal formers, followed by a full respray in red, with the truck bed surround finished in Raptor protective coating for durability. The white wall tyres were also replaced at the same time, and the wiring loom was renewed. The vendor describes it as a very pleasant vehicle to drive and a very fine example of the model. It is registered as a collection vehicle in France, and matching serial numbers have been confirmed.IMG_6692 Classic Cars Company.jpg3.81 MB
