The Appeal
Intended as a toppler for the Morris Minor, the A30 - or AS3 'Seven' was a little bit cheaper than its low-cost rival, and boasted designs input from the Raymond Loewy design studios - albeit redesigned for austerity by the British company's in-house team. Regardless of that, mind, it was still a remarkably stylish little car for the mid-century driver - and while it didn't manage to topple the Moggy, it managed to carve out its own very respectable place on the market.
This particular example stands out due to its meticulous restoration, which has returned it to its original Sandown Fawn coachwork with a Beige interior trim. With only 156 miles covered since the restoration, it's still in wonderful, shiny condition - and probably the best examples of the A30 we've had the pleasure to put on auction Car & Classic.
The vehicle comes with a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate, authenticating its originality and adding to its collectability. The extensive history is a real treat too - the voluminous file is complete with invoices, handbook, and a memory stick containing photos of the complete restoration, offering a comprehensive insight into the car's heritage.
Additional features such as ethanol-friendly fuel lines, a refurbished factory-fitted heater, and discreetly fitted flashing indicators alongside the original semaphores make this Austin A30 a practical yet authentic classic.
