The Appeal

Now that’s what we call patina.
By its very nature, a Land Rover is a workhorse, a vehicle built to go places no other car can go and do things no other car can do. So, naturally, these venerable 4x4s accrue their fair share of wear and tear over the years. When restoring one, you could choose to erase this, replacing dented panels and applying glossy new paintwork. But when you’ve got such a rich patina as this and such straight original bodywork, it would be almost criminal to touch it!
This 1954 Series I really is a masterclass in patina preservation. A mere glance at the chassis or under the bonnet reveals this Land Rover has been restored to a high standard, yet that stunning time-worn Bronze Green paintwork has been left well alone. You can also see where it has abraded right through to the bare “Birmabright” aluminium in places.
Besides its gorgeous looks, another benefit of this style of restoration is that this Land Rover remains highly usable. The trouble with perfect paint is it certainly won’t stay that way if you fancy a spot of green laning - surely an activity no Land Rover ownership experience is complete without?! With this car, you simply wouldn’t notice the odd new chip and scratch, while more vulnerable aspects like the bulkhead have been replaced with a hard-wearing galvanised item.
We’re utterly smitten with this Land Rover and we’re sure you will be too. We’re assured it’s running beautifully and ready to explore the British countryside.
