The Appeal
Established in 1952 through the partnership of Austin and the Donald Healey Motor Company, Austin-Healey became responsible for some of Britain’s most admired post-war sports cars. The 100/6 marked an important step in the development of the Big Healey line, replacing the earlier four-cylinder 100 with six-cylinder power.
This example began life as a Primrose Yellow, left-hand-drive car in Los Angeles before later returning to the UK, where it has since undergone an extensive restoration and conversion into a classic rally car. The work appears to have been carried out with careful attention to competition use, including internally routed fuel lines, brake lines and electrical harnessing to help protect them from damage.
The seller notes that the car has yet to be fully run-in following its restoration, which included an overhauled and rebuilt engine and the fitment of a new heavier-gauge chassis. As presented, this 100/6 BN4 offers a purposeful interpretation of one of the defining British sports cars of the 1950s.
Whether prepared further for historic rallying, enjoyed on road events or added to a collection of competition-inspired classics, this Big Healey combines period presence, six-cylinder character and a highly focused rally specification.
