The Appeal

Porsche has long been renowned for high performance sports cars, so the fact that they produced this 12 horsepower diesel tractor will come as a surprise to many…
Built in collaboration with German company Allgaier, Porsche enjoyed great success with their range of four tractors until production finally ceased in the early 1960s. This bijou 111 Junior was Porsche’s most compact tractor and it proved itself a capable workhorse on many a farm.
Having been restored by an engineer, this example is in fine mechanical and cosmetic order, making it a great example of one of the 20th century’s most iconic tractors.

The History and Paperwork

  • Found and restored by a British engineer living in Northern France
  • Purchased in 2021 by the vendor from the restorer who had owned it for 5 years
  • Now situated in Southwest France
  • French road registered
  • The seller can arrange delivery to the new buyer

The Condition

  • Restored red paintwork
  • Porsche badging in good condition
Having been restored at some point between 2010 and 2015, this tractor presents very well overall, only displaying the odd mark or blemish here and there.

It was evidently painted to quite a high standard during the restoration, making it stand out from the many vintage tractors that are now simply brush painted.
The yellow wheels have some chips and surface rust in places but are overall very presentable. It is our opinion that this tractor could be brought up to a very high standard indeed with minimal cosmetic work.

As is, it is a very smart and eminently usable example. The tractor used to lead the village parade under the previous owner in N. France.
Any tractor enthusiast will tell you that tyres can be quite costly. In this case, the vendor informs us that the tyres are not brand new but are as new, which is a considerable asset to this 111.

The vendor has noted the following: The headlights aren’t wired up. The hot plug needs replacing although the vendor has bypassed this by using EasyStart.  The tyres aren’t brand new but in as new condition. The mower attachment is mechanical, there’s no hydraulics involved.

The Mechanics

  • 12 horsepower, single-cylinder diesel engine
  • Starts, runs and drives very well
  • Finger bar mower
Under the bonnet, this Porsche looks to be very smart indeed and the single-cylinder, 12 horsepower diesel engine starts and runs exactly as it should, settling down to a steady rhythmic thrum.
The vendor reports that this 111 drives really well and is actually quite sprightly for a vintage tractor.
As this Porsche is mostly used on the road, we are unsure as to the condition of the mechanical finger bar mower. However, it does appear to be complete and in good order.

Summary

Presented in lovely restored condition, this wonderful compact tractor would be equally at home in a Porsche collection as it would be working in a field.
This tractor’s compact size and central power take-off makes it a great candidate for cutting grass - after all, there are few lawn mowers wearing a Porsche badge!

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
