The Appeal
Introduced in 1955, the MGA marked a dramatic departure from MG’s earlier T-Type models, replacing their upright, pre-war styling with sleek and thoroughly modern bodywork. The result was one of the most elegant and successful British sports cars of the era, helping to cement MG’s reputation on both sides of the Atlantic.
This example was specified in the comparatively rare Fixed-Head Coupe configuration, combining the MGA’s graceful styling with the added practicality of an enclosed cabin and useful luggage space. Professionally restored and presented in attractive Ash Green, it has been further enhanced with a number of sympathetic upgrades, including an unleaded cylinder head and five-speed gearbox from a Ford Sierra, improving usability without detracting from the car’s period character.
Offered for sale following 20 years of ownership, it has been enjoyed as a capable and economical touring car. Equally suited to classic car events, weekend drives and longer-distance journeys, it presents an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-sorted example of one of MG’s most enduring designs.
