The Appeal
This is a throwback into the golden, Graber-influenced era of Alvis motoring. Refined six-cylinder hardware in incredibly elegant bodywork makes for a rather sporty iteration of the upright-grilled, long-nosed luxury car. The Drophead Coupe variant, bodied by the prestigious Park Ward coachbuilders, is among the most desirable configuration going. Remarkably stylish, elegant and capable, only 784 TD Series 1 examples were built between 1958 and 1963 across both body styles, with barely 500 believed to survive.
This particular car is approximately the thirtieth TD 21 produced, and its first owner was a member of the famous Whitbread brewing dynasty, who specified the car in a bespoke Whitbread Green metallic finish with tan interior and black hood. It retains its original build card dated 28th April 1959.
Having been laid up for a period in its early life, this handsome car is believed to be a low-mileage example, and certainly looks in fine order for its years. The vendor reports that it starts readily and drives well, and is now ready and waiting to hit the road with its lucky new keeper.image.png1.76 MB
