1959 Chevrolet Apache

Highlights

  • Fully restored
  • Exceptional condition throughout
  • Many choice upgrades

The Appeal

It’s hard to think of a more quintessentially American vehicle than a Chevy truck and they don’t come better than this. The big ‘59 Apache is a formidable vehicle and this one has been fully restored throughout before it was imported into the UK. The condition of it really is exceptional throughout and is ready to show (and win!).
The 3900cc V8 engine sounds fantastic through the twin exhausts and coupled with the truck's good looks, finished in Cyber Gray, it’s a vehicle that doesn’t attract attention, it demands it. As can be seen in the images it has been extensively restored and many aftermarket upgrades have been fitted whilst keeping to the original feel of the truck.
If you’re looking for the ultimate American car, look no further, this is it.

The History and Paperwork

  • First UK registered in 2021
  • Tax and MOT exempt
  • V5 Present and correct
  • A large selection of invoices from the restoration of the truck in the USA

The Interior

  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Fully retrimmed in satin black leather
  • Gorgeous 50’s styling
  • Refurbished/rebuilt gauges
The Apache was the first truck to feature a wrap-around windscreen and when you climb up onto the bench seat in the cab of this ‘59 Apache you can see why they wentt for that design. The cab feels open and spacious with excellent visibility that really allows for a great driving experience from the commanding elevated position.
The interior has been completely restored with the door cards, headlining, seat and trim all presenting excellently with little to no signs of wear. The dashboard looks fantastic, with its distinctive 50’s American styling and big Chevrolet steering wheel it provides a driving experience completely unlike that of any of its European counterparts. The dashboard is finished in the same dark metallic grey as the exterior and all of the switchgear and gauges present excellently with lots of chrome in the same excellent condition.

The Exterior

  • Full body-off restoration
  • Finished in metallic Cyber Gray with clear coat
  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Distinctive 50’s styling
  • Extensive brightwork all in fantastic condition
This Apache is a fantastic looking truck and is particularly eye-catching driving around our little English roads where it really stands out. The dark metallic grey matches the bold 50’s styling perfectly and is complemented by a mass of brightwork, all of which combines to make an excellent looking vehicle that attracts attention wherever it goes.
The extensive brightwork is all in excellent condition and the wheels are also excellent with all flour tyres having full tread. The dark metallic grey paintwork looks fantastic and thanks to the truck having covered so few miles since the restoration it is in fantastic condition. All of the light lenses and trim present in the same excellent condition and the bed has been fitted with a Mar-K light oak bed with stainless steel runners, that looks simply fantastic. The whole overall appearance of the truck is exceptional and it would make a fine vehicle for shows.

The Mechanics

  • We are informed that the truck has had the following done as part of the restoration:
  • 383 c.i. 4 bolt main
  • 2.02” valves / pocketed heads
  • Air gap manifold
  • 650 CFM Holley double pump carburetor
  • Sanderson shorty headers
  • 2½” exhaust
  • MSD electronic ignition
  • Close ratio Muncie transmission
  • Hurst shifter – 3 speed on the floor
  • 90 rear axle ratio
  • 4 corner 3” dropped leaf springs
  • 12” six lug front disc brakes
  • 17” 6 lug rally wheels, caps and trim rings
  • New doors with conversion to 1 piece windows
  • Electric wiper conversion

As with all of the other aspects of this truck, the mechanical elements present excellently. The engine, engine bay and undersides all present immaculately showing no signs of wear that we could see. The big V8 starts easily and sounds phenomenal through the twin pipe exhaust, as with the aesthetics of this truck, the sound it makes isn’t subtle!

The current owner informs us that it drives exactly as it should, which given the extensive restoration isn’t surprising. The big V8 coupled to the 3 speed hurst shifter and close ratio box make this bit of a monster off the line, giving this truck the performance to match its looks.

Summary

This truck makes a big impression in every way; with its stand-out 50’s styling, its exceptional condition and the fantastic V8 with the associated sound. Fully restored to an exceptionally high standard, it’s ready to show or drive.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
