The Appeal
A simple ‘S’ was all it took to catapult Jaguar’s XK150 into the supercar league. not to be confused with the much more numerous 'special equipment' cars that merely got cosmetic modifications, these final models received a power boost to 250bhp, making them among the fastest production cars on the road.
Each ‘S’ can be identified, confusingly, by its ‘T’ chassis prefix. This car is one of the 37 RHD DHC cars to carry that vital detail. It is a magnificent vehicle that retains its classic British Racing Green over Suede Green factory colour scheme. Naturally, it is a matching numbers car across chassis, engine and gearbox. Upgrades include power steering which can be turned off at the flick of a switch. Brake and cooling upgrades are the only other modifications from the standard specification all added to the car to make a reliable and fast grand touring car.
The vendor recently returned from Le Mans Classic in the car where it performed faultlessly for over 1000miles.
The bodywork presents exceptionally well, with good door hinges and panel fit. Inside, the interior is original and unrestored except new suede green carpets and a new heater matrix and fan.
The car’s history file and JDHT certification verify the authenticity and specifications. XK150s this good and in this specification are rare arrivals on the market. This one is very impressive.

Is there really any other colour for this car than British Racing Green? The first keeper clearly didn’t think so, and, like the complementary Suede Green interior, it retains its illustrious 1959 combination today. The dark paintwork neatly accents the chrome, which includes the wire on their vintage tyres.
The bodywork is impressive, and the car checks out well in the usual notable areas for these big cars. The panels fit flush, and the door hinges, often a troublesome area, are reported to have no play.

The 3.4S really was a road-going race car. Triple carburettors, raised compression, and a modified head and exhaust valves hiked power by 60bhp to 250bhp. This car was also factory fitted with the DeNormanville overdrive unit for the 4spd Moss box, making high-speed cruising considerably more relaxing.
We are told that the car runs and drives very well indeed. The vendor should know - he recently travelled 1,000 miles across Europe in it without fault and oversaw the mechanical renovations.
