The Appeal

The Series II Land Rover is without a doubt one of the most iconic British vehicles ever built, known for its superb capability both on and off the road. As these vehicles are now over 70 years old, the majority of Series II Land Rovers have fallen to age, with many being scrapped as the years pass by.
This particular example, however, has been very well preserved over the years, now benefitting from a recent restoration and plenty of care. If you’re looking for a freshly rebuilt example of the classic legend in superb condition, this is the one for you.

The History and Paperwork

  • Recently restored
  • RHD home-market model
  • V5C document present
  • Heritage certificate present
This Land Rover Series II was produced in May 1959 for the UK market and has no doubt been thoroughly enjoyed since. When you take into account just how old this vehicle now is, a mere 12 former keepers on the V5C document is actually quite a low number.
Throughout its time with the current keeper, this Land Rover has been treated to a full restoration, consisting of everything you’d come to expect of a professional job, including a fresh coat of green paint and a mechanical overhaul. Now, the vehicle is ready to be enjoyed by one truly lucky buyer.

The Interior

  • Retrimmed/restored interior
  • Some original components
  • Excellent condition
  • New Exmoor trimmed seats
  • New undercover covers hood and hood stick set
In true Land Rover fashion, this Series II shows off a rather minimal, and practical interior, with plenty of space for cargo and passengers in the rear. Although the cabin shows off retrimmed and new components, attention has been made to preserve original items wherever possible, such as the instruments/dashboard pieces.
Rather thankfully, the interior now sports new Exmoor seats, which are in superb condition all round, having been seldom used since the restoration. All interior trim items reflect a similar condition, with plenty retaining their original finish, and others showing off fresh paint.

Despite being rather minimal, the interior of this Land rover is certainly in fantastic condition, and can hardly be faulted for how it now presents itself.

The Exterior

  • Freshly resprayed
  • Excellent condition
  • Classic Series II styling
  • Galvanized chassis, painted in black Raptor
  • Galvanized doors, door tops & front plate
Having been recently restored, this Land Rover almost appears frozen in time, showing off a superb exterior finish with very little room to fault. The fresh green paintwork suits the vehicle perfectly and shows no noticeable defects worthy of note. All other trim pieces such as lights have been replaced with new items where required, and reflect a similar condition.
In contrast to the green bodywork, this Land Rover sits on a set of white steel wheels, complete with a spare in the rear. All wheels are in excellent condition, and show off mud-terrain Security tyres with plenty of tread for the new owner to enjoy.

The Mechanics

  • Plenty of refurbished/new components
  • Drives brilliantly
  • No faults to note
  • Original re-cored radiator
  • Reconditioned original engine & gearbox
  • New clutch & thrust bearing
  • Reconditioned original Lucas wiper motors
  • Original refurbished starter motor
As many enthusiasts are aware, the Land Rover was hardly a vehicle aimed at providing a remarkable driving experience, instead opting for brilliant capability, and rugged dependability. That being said, this particular Series II fires up and drives with plenty of character, and no faults to note.
As long as you don't mind getting the fresh paint and clean underside dirty, this Land Rover will happily tackle most terrain thrown at it, including regular use on the tarmac if desired. If you’re looking for a remarkably fault-free Land Rover to explore the country with, this Series II certainly won’t disappoint.

Summary

This Series II is a superb example of the ever-iconic classic Land Rover. The vehicle benefits from a recent restoration, drives without fault and looks spectacular for its age. If you’re looking for a vehicle that perfectly merges classic Land Rover styling and dependable performance, this Series II is a fantastic choice.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
