The Appeal

This Isetta is a fantastic example of the German manufacturer's iconic bubble car. With its very distinctive design and finished in blue and white this little car makes a big impression. Comprehensively restored by a microcar restoration specialist it’s in excellent condition throughout and looks fantastic as well as providing a superb classic microcar driving experience. 
Featuring the original bubble car style windows, a colour matched sun visor and the luggage rack this is the full Isetta package and in exceptional condition. With good examples becoming increasingly harder to find, one in this condition presents an excellent opportunity to acquire an iconic European car.

The History and Paperwork

  • A large selection of invoices for parts used during the restoration (mostly in German)
  • V5 Present and correct
  • Imported from Germany by the current owner (Please note - DVLA have the vehicle down as being manufactured in 1966, this is incorrect, vehicle was manufactured in 1960)
  • Current number plate on vehicle is a show number plate, new plate will be put on the vehicle upon sale.


The Interior

As you open the front mounted door of this Isetta you are presented with the beautiful interior, fully retrimmed in blue and white it looks fantastic. The two person bench seat is in excellent condition and provides a comfortable ride in the little car. As you close the door the steering wheel and controls fold with it, towards you and they all present superbly . All of the chrome inside, from the pedals to the door handles is in fantastic condition and the whole interior is excellent.


The Exterior

  • Fully resprayed in blue and white by the current owner

This Isetta looks fantastic, from any angle the distinctive shape coupled with the fresh blue and white paint and excellent brightwork make it something truly special. This Isetta features the original bubble car windows (later variants had sliding windows), complete with chrome luggage rack and blue sun visor all in superb condition.
The current owner who specialises in microcar restoration informs us that the car has had a full respray alongside new brightwork and several new body panels and as such the whole exterior of the car presents excellently.


The Mechanics

  • Starts easily and idles well

  • The owner informs us that it has had extensive mechanical work carried out during the restoration including: new floor panel, bulkhead, inner wings, full engine and gearbox rebuild with all new seals, bearings and piston and waxoyled.
  • New tyres with full tread
As with the rest of the car this Isetta has received a lot of mechanical attention. The owner informs us that he has carried out a full engine and gearbox rebuild that includes new piston, new bearings and new seals throughout. As well as the work to the engine there has been a considerable amount of work to the body including new panels and bulkhead prior to the chassis being powder coated. 
The engine presents excellently and the underside appears as new along with the various components and fittings. This Isetta starts easily and idles well and the owner reports that it drives exactly as it should.


Summary

This is an excellent example of the iconic 50’s bubble car that has been comprehensively restored inside and out and presents in excellent condition throughout. With a fully rebuilt engine and gearbox, a full respray and all new brightwork they don’t come better than this.
