The Attractions
The idea for the Giulietta Spider originated in America, but the car is imbued with the Italian spirit of the 'dolce vita'. With a stunning design by Pininfarina and characteristic lively Alfa Romeo mechanics, the Spider embodied the carefree optimism of the post-war years. Not surprisingly, it was the progenitor of a series of splendid Alfa convertibles that still convey the same spirit today.
With its classic red paint, this charming Spider shows all its qualities at first glance. It is part of the Forgione collection of classic cars, so it comes to the market in excellent condition. Mr Forgione loved this car and regularly drove it to weekly Saturday lunch meetings with other enthusiasts.
This car was produced in 1961, and is one of the last Spyders built on the slightly longer Tipo 101 chassis with an updated version of the legendary twin-cam 'Nord' engine. Being a Tipo 101.03, it is equipped with the smaller and extraordinarily lively 1.3-litre engine.
It is in excellent mechanical and structural condition, with a slight patina that gives it even more character. Thanks to its condition and interesting provenance, it would look splendid in any collection.
