The Appeal
Syd Enever’s svelte MGA roadster is one of motoring’s proper icons, as familiar and welcome as fish and chips or a foaming beer on a summer’s day. What is perhaps less familiar - but equally, if not more welcome - is the hard top version of his streamlined convertible.
That is not surprising, perhaps, because just a couple of hundred were built over two short years. These cars are popular with rally and event enthusiasts because they provide the rigidity, practicality and all-weather comfort that long-distance events require.
Here we have one of the best we’ve seen in a ling while. It is a 1961 Mk2 in great shape, thanks to a recently completed comprehensive "nut and bolt" rebuild in 2025. The mechanicals were overhauled in 2015, 3,000 miles ago, including a full engine rebuild by renowned specialist Brown & Gammons.
Finished in bright red with complementary red/black leather trim and chrome wire wheels, this pretty car embodies the quintessential British sports car aesthetic. It comes to market with the transparency of a long, advisory-free voluntary MOT so is ready to enjoy.
