The Appeal
The Rootes Group knew how to get something great out of the parts catalogue. The initial Humber Hawk was effectively a re-badged Hillman, but as the series progressed, so did the car. By the 1960s, the Hawk was very much its own car, and quite a car besides. The Hawk now carried an Estate bodyshell that took of the biscuit - the largest unitary body shell of any British car in the era.
Factor that in with big, wrap-around windows and a new, larger engine, and the Series III Hawk was really quite a fantastic bit of kit, and beautifully styled. There's a certain international appearance to the car's wings, pillars and roofline, and to this day it's an exceptionally good looking motor.
This particular Hawk estate offers a rare opportunity to acquire a seldom-seen classic that combines period charm with practical usability. Having benefited from mechanical attention including electrical system improvements and a water pump replacement, this Humber appears in smart condition that runs and drives well, with ample space for family outings in a style that's all of its own making.
