The Appeal

The MG A was distinctive the moment it rolled off of the Abingdon production line. Sleek and streamlined, the car's design saw origins in Le Mans - and was a complete styling break compared to MG's prior sports car lineup. It was, in many ways, a revolutionary car - indeed, it not only influenced every MG product thereafter, but cemented the sports car as a near-entirely anglocentric art.

This fabulous example cars rare, factory-fitted competition seats, and has been in the UK since 1989, suitably converted to right-hand drive. It's a very engaging piece of mid-century automotive design, lovingly maintained and very nicely kept. In 2004, it was treated to a thorough restoration by Orchard Restorations - and it's only covered around 817 miles since. If that wasn't enough, the engine was rebuilt and reconditioned in 2015 by Classic and Race.

One of Britain's best-loved sports cars - nicely kept, and companioned by its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. This isn't one to be missed.

Paint still presents in good condition, in the MGA's near-quintessential signal red
Some very isolated bubbles and chips, but these are far from detracting from the car's appearance
Converted to wire wheels from the factory-supplied disc wheels
The vendor notes a small crack in the windscreen
Chromework still contrasts nicely against the paintwork
All badging is present and correct
Underside looks in good, solid order
Interior has been retrimmed and is still in fine order
Black leather seats with red piping
No sign of any rips or tears
Black dashboard in good order with clean, legible instruments
Moto-Lita steering wheel is carrying signs of its venerable age
