The Appeal
The 1962 Porsche 356 B 1600 Super Cabriolet is a highly coveted vintage sports car featuring the distinctive T6 body style with twin rear engine grilles and an external fuel filler. It is powered by an air-cooled 75-horsepower, 1.6-litre flat-four "Super" engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Combining an elegant, Reutter-built open-top design with engaging analogue handling, this rare classic remains a prized icon among global automotive collectors.
This 1962 example, finished in Silver Metallic over black leather with charcoal German square weave carpet, underwent an extensive restoration by respected Porsche specialist Roger Bray Restoration in 2002/2003, supported by an extensive photographic record and hundreds of receipts, we are told. The engine fitted to the car was sourced from Elba Racing in Germany and built to SC specifications, before being further developed by Andy Prill, a name that needs little introduction in Porsche circles, with 1,720cc Shasta pistons and cylinders, a twin spark system and a full flow oil system. The gearbox was also rebuilt by Prill. Crucially, the original 75hp engine is retained by the owner, preserving the car's matching-numbers potential.
Reportedly accompanied by a substantial history file, this is a compelling opportunity to acquire a thoughtfully restored and intelligently upgraded 356 B Cabriolet.

This 1962 Porsche 356 Cabriolet is a desirable right-hand-drive example, finished in elegant Silver Metallic with a black soft top and black leather interior complemented by charcoal German square-weave carpet. The cabin features a Nardi three-spoke wood-rim steering wheel, headrests, a Blaupunkt radio, inertia-reel seat belts with Porsche-crested aircraft buckles, and Coco floor mats. Exterior highlights include push-out front quarter-light windows, and 15-inch wheels with chrome hubcaps and coloured Porsche crests, with a spare wheel also included. The paintwork presents well overall, with minor bubbling noted on the bonnet.

Mechanically, this Porsche 356 has been extensively upgraded for enhanced performance and reliability. Its original 1,582cc engine has been enlarged to 1,720cc and rebuilt to SC specification by Elba Racing in Germany, with further enhancements by renowned Porsche specialist Andy Prill, including Shasta pistons and cylinders, a twin-spark ignition system, and a Ron LaDow Precision Matters full-flow oil system. The gearbox has also been rebuilt by Andy Prill, while additional upgrades include a dual master cylinder braking system and a practical full 12-volt electrical conversion, making the car better suited to modern driving.
Interested parties should note that cars need to be cleared from Boxengasse storage on 10th August. Unless otherwise instructed by 9am on the 10th August, all movements will be carried out by Indigo Blue European who are contactable on +44 (0)1420 477223 . The clearance / uplift to store price is £375 + VAT per car, storage would be £15 + VAT per day thereafter for the first 7 days then £45 + VAT per week.
