The Appeal

Restoring a classic car can be a painstaking and lengthy process. Costly too. When a freshly and professionally restored car comes to market, they therefore command attention.
This is just such a car. Recently extensively restored by none other than Hilton & Moss over two years between 2020 and 2022 at a cost of nearly £65,000, it presents in exquisite condition. The colour combination helps - blue metallic over burgundy leather is arguably one of the best for these beautifully detailed cars.
The quality of the work shines out from the photographs. It has barely been used since completion so remains much as Hilton & Moss’ craftsmen intended. This handsome four-seater W111 is ready to use and enjoy - and with a £4,000 Bluetooth stereo fitted, that seems assured.

The handsome Paul Bracq lines of the W111 do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to the car’s appeal, but there is no doubt that they are enhanced by a very well presented car. Restored by Hilton Moss, the work finished 18 months ago, this car proves that point. Finished in a popular blue over burgundy colour scheme, the quality of the workmanship is obvious and simply builds on Bracq’s work.
With sparing use since completion the car arrives on the market much as it was when it left the Hilton and Moss works in late 2022. Across the interior and exterior you will struggle to find signs of use - instead the eye alights on quality finishes. Discreet touches abound, such as a high end modern sound system hidden away with only the factory Becker Europa head unit immediately visible.

The Mechanics

  • M127 2,195cc 6cyl 115bhp engine
  • 4spd manual gearbox
  • Most engine parts replaced during refurbishment
  • Engine and mechanical components checked and refurbished by Hilton and Moss
  • Mechanicals overhauled as part of the £65,000 restoration
  • No reported running or driving issues
Effortless is the word that comes to mind when you slip behind the wheel of any W111. These sumptuous cars were built for travelling in comfort, serenely and quietly thanks to a range of carefully engineered engines.
The 220SE got the 2,195cc M127 6cyl motor, a highly regarded, whisper-quiet engine that in this example is mated to a four speed manual box.
The mechanicals were extensively overhauled during the two year restoration by Hilton & Moss. We understand that what was not replaced was checked and refurbished. You can review the work in the photographs of the invoices.
The car has been little used since the work was finished so comes to the buyer with all the benefit of that work and with no known mechanical issues.
