THE APPEAL

Elegantly styled, V8-powered and with low production numbers, the Daimler SP250 is a stunning sports car that offers owners an exclusive title. With a touch of American 50s flair, the British classic features a lightweight fibreglass body styled superbly with gorgeous lines and tail light fins. Its robust 2548cc V8 engine brings ample power as well as a soundtrack that will make the hairs on your neck stand up.

This 1964 C-Spec is a wonderful example of the last car to be produced by Daimler before its takeover by Jaguar. It comes with a huge file of history, including the original registration document as well as pages and pages of maintenance commissioned by its two previous owners and its current owner. Believed to have been restored in the early 90s, this Dart is in fantastic condition and is only being sold due to a bereavement.

THE INTERIOR

  • Stunning deep red interior
  • Fantastic condition with a couple of small blemishes
  • Retrimmed prior to current ownership, believed to be the early 90s

Unquestionably the 60s are a superb era for car interiors and the Daimler is a perfect example of why. This classic was originally built with a black interior, however, a retrim to a deep red is believed to have been carried out in the early 90s. The finish is impressive, the colour choice a superb pairing to the exterior, its grand, plush and feels absolutely perfect for this car. There are a couple of little blemishes here and there, but nothing that is noticeable other than a small mark on the driver seat and wear appearing on the top of the dash. Overall, it's a wonderful and enjoyable interior.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Gorgeous Ivy White paint
  • Sublime condition
  • Spotless wire wheels with new tyres
  • Black vinyl hood

The Daimler SP250 is a beautiful sports car, with some gorgeous features such as the large chrome grill and rear tail light fins, a style influenced by 50s America. It wasn't an instant hit on its release but its design and character have grown over the years and now it stands out as an exclusive and seductive roadster. The condition of the car is very, very good, with only the smallest sign of wear visible. It underwent a restoration in the early 90s, where the colour was changed to Ivy White alongside mechanical and interior work, the full details are not clear however the fibreglass body appears to be stress-free and the paint professionally applied. The black hood albeit not the original is in great shape, with a few wear marks as well as a very small repair. In summary, this is a very attractive example, kept in fantastic condition by all of its owners.

THE MECHANICS

  • 2548cc Petrol V8 Engine
  • 4-Speed manual
  • Very well maintained with supporting documentation

This Daimler has been used very infrequently, with only 53 miles covered since its last MOT in 2016 and has been Garaged and unmoved for several months. However, upon our arrival and after a little bit of fuel, the impressive V8 sprung into action and filled the quiet hamlet with the most beautiful ensemble. This engine has a good reputation for being reliable and robust if the right maintenance has been carried out and from what we can see the maintenance on this car has been meticulously carried out by all owners with pages of documentation retained. The current operating health of the car is believed to be fine however as it is being sold due to a bereavement there is little knowledge and understanding of its
current health. The sheer amount of paperwork and maintenance carried out should provide enough confidence to any future owner, however.

SUMMARY

The Dart is a special sports car for an array of reasons, it's an exclusive, rare car with impressive performance and a pleasing soundtrack and with many owners reluctant to give up these cars, they very rarely come up for sale, especially in as wonderful condition as this C-Spec. This is a unique opportunity to invest in a car very few have and a car that will likely only grow in value and popularity.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
