Here we have a delightfully patinated 1964 Series IIA 88". With its 2.25-litre petrol engine, a gearbox offering synchromesh on only third and fourth, and the option to remove the roof and door tops entirely, it delivers a driving experience that is wonderfully analogue and thoroughly engaging.
This 1964 example has been in the current owner's hands for approximately four years, serving reliably as a summer daily driver on country lanes and byways. Crucially, it sits on a galvanised chassis, arguably the single most important upgrade for any Series Land Rover, while the bulkhead is reported to be in very good order.
During the current ownership, a new canvas tilt, new tyres and a recent exhaust have all been fitted, and the vendor states it starts without hesitation and drives well.
