289cu in V8 powerplant with automatic transmission
The Appeal
Perhaps one of the most legendary cars in history - the Mustang is a rare household name, and for many is the defining American motor. With its raft of impressive powerplants and sporty aesthetics, these cars are practically the definition of an aggressive road-racer - brash, stylish and loaded with charisma.
This example of a first-generation Mustang - with the ever-beloved C-code V8 powerplant and an attractive Caspian Blue livery - comes to us with an exceptional interior, newly overhauled mechanics and an exceptional finish. IMG_3971.jpeg4.29 MB
The History and Paperwork
Sadly we’ve been provided with very little of this vehicle’s history
Built in 1965 at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan factory
Constructed as a Convertible with a C-Code 289 2V V8 engine
Recently subject to a mechanical and cosmetic restoration
We understand the car has a photographic record of this restoration being undertaken
Sporty and well-appointed with plenty of chromework and steel
Seats are free of rips and tears with embossed pony detailing
Door cards are clean and well-appointed with no sag, rips or tears
Dashboard is clean and well-kept with original features still in situ
All controls, dials and instruments are in good, clean condition
Full air conditioning and Rally-Pac counters
As far as we’re aware, every control and instrument is in good working order
Period stereo unit is in situ
Accented with brightwork that’s clean and well-kept
The entire array is joined with a Mustang=branded steering wheel
Carpets and headlining are clean and well-kept
Boot is solid and well-kept with a spare wheel
The iconic Pony interior is unmistakable with the Mustang. Those prancing ponies in the seats are as iconic as the car’s burbling V8 - and it’s for good reason. It represents the car’s exceptional detailing and multitude of horses under the hood, along with good old fashioned American country-baiting nostalgia.
This example has been beautifully finished following a restoration, and is still accurate to that which left the factory.
Lashings of chrome throughout provide a great contrast
Branding is all present and correct
Glasswork and lenses in excellent order
Black soft top appears to be brand new with no signs of wear
Car is sitting on a full set of Mustand-branded rims
Shod in a full set of brand new Michelin tyres
With cars these ages you can never tell a car is free of corrosion
Simply spectacular - this Mustang carries a particularly regal Caspian Blue, which really sets it apart from its peers. Through this deep, sleek colour scheme, the car’s sharp-featured styling takes on an elegant quality that’s all of its own.
Newly restored, the car is in excellent order - with no significant signs of wear and all of its original features on display, including a nicely presented set of branded wheels, plenty of chrome and - of course - a brand new soft top.
Engine bay in excellent order, having been freshly restored
Loaded with the small-block C-code powerplant, this Mustang boasts plenty of grunt and plenty of mechanical pedigree. The car is rebuilt, restored and polished up to a great standard.
This car is ready and waiting to hit the road with a new owner, and we’ve no doubt it’ll impress.
If you’ve been picturing yourself sat back in a Mustang, cruising the open road with the top down, then this is the car for you. Everything here is marvellous, beautifully picked out with an impressive colour scheme and - of course - soundtracked by that iconic V8 exhaust note.
It’s rare we see a Mustang finished to such an excellent standard, and it’s sure to generate plenty of interest - whether it’s at car shows, out on the open road, or sitting pride of place as part of a classic American fleet.
