The Appeal
The Austin Healey 3000 MK3 BJ8 represents the high-water mark of the Big Healey story; the most powerful and refined iteration of a lineage that has captivated sports car enthusiasts since the 1950s. With its twin-carburettor 2,912cc straight-six, wind-in-the-hair character and timeless Healey styling, the BJ8 remains one of the most sought-after British sports cars of its era.
This particular example brings with it a story as engaging as the car itself. First acquired by an American serviceman while stationed in Holland, it subsequently crossed the Atlantic to Texas before finding its way into the hands of a Corsican enthusiast with a particular passion for the model. The vendor acquired it in September 2015 and has since invested in bringing it up to a good standard. The bodywork was stripped, damaged panels replaced, and the car repainted in its original beige. Mechanically, the gearbox and overdrive have been rebuilt, the clutch replaced, and a new battery fitted in 2026. A new soft top was also fitted in 2025. The vendor reports that the mechanics are original throughout, with only the exhaust representing a departure from factory specification.1_EXT_20260228_C&C_AUSTIN.jpg177.04 KB
