The Appeal
The Frua-penned and simply-named Quattroporte was Maserati’s first four door and introduced the firm’s long-lived V8 engine. With its three-box styling, it was aimed at Italian bankers wanting to go incognito and the lucrative US market.
It was also extremely expensive, which is why just 230 of the original ‘Typo 107’ Series 1 cars left the works. This 1966 manual gearbox car would have been one of the last and is amongst a handful of modern-day survivors. As such, it is a rare find for collectors.
The car is a project for completion, but one where much of the work has already been done. The body has been refinished in grigio grey metallic and there is an unrestored and very original tobacco tan interior. The car is said to be complete, with the parts helpfully arranged in well-organised boxes. We are told the manual gearbox has recently been serviced.
Here is a chance not just to acquire a exceptionally rare Quattroporte, but also for the buyer to put their mark on it. One for collectors not to miss.
