The Appeal
Whether owners like Steve McQueen, Clint Eastwood and Marlon Brando made the T120R cool, or they bought them because they already were, we'll leave you to decide. Either way, there is no denying that Triumph's 60s wonderbike's combination of performance, design and cultural relevance means it is the high water mark of pre-UJM British bikes.
Powered by a 649cc parallel twin, two Amal Monobloc carburettors and mated to a four-speed gearbox, the T120R was good for 115mph yet, as this 1966 example shows, it looks just as good at standstill. Like most of these bikes, this one was originally supplied to the USA before returning to the UK in 2017. Since arrival, it has been extensively restored using high-quality parts. The vendor says that the work far exceeds its current value. You can assess the level of work from the photos - we love the white paint finish with its very detailed red and gold pinstriping and decals. A useful 2019 letter from the Owners Club verifies the build date and specification.
Since completion, it has been ridden just 390 miles. The vendor describes it as "as good as it can be," starting on the first kick and running exactly as intended. Faithfulness to original specification has been maintained throughout, with electronic ignition being the only departure from standard.image.png4.27 MB
